February is American Heart Month

Making healthy lifestyle changes can be a lot easier when your friends, family, coworkers, and those in your community join you on the journey, which is why we've adopted the motto: #OurHearts are healthier together.

What can you do to make #OurHearts healthier together?

Start by finding a partner or group, then make a commitment to support each other and engage in heart healthy activities. For example, invite a coworker to take a walk during lunch breaks or start swapping healthy and tasty recipes with your friends. You can even join a weekly exercise class or start a step challenge. The ideas are endless—just make sure whatever you do really motivates you.

Throughout February, NHLBI will offer the NIH community opportunities to make #OurHearts healthier together. Mark your calendars and bring your coworkers to have fun and learn more!

Friday, February 7 is National Wear Red Day

* Wear red to raise awareness about heart disease.

* Dance with us! Join your NIH colleagues from 12-1 p.m. in the Clinical Center Atrium to get your hearts pumping as R&W fitness instructors lead us in a global dance class.

* Visit campus cafeterias for heart healthy, “red" menus. Visit the Building 31 cafeteria every Tuesday for featured heart-healthy lunch options.

February 18-21

R&W's NIH Fitness Program will offer free group fitness classes if you wear red to class. Find the class schedule at http://govemployee.com/nih/rw-services/fitness-home/group-classes.
