October is Work and Family Month. Although NIH aims to support healthier and more flexible work environments throughout the year, this month we bring an even greater focus on the work-life balance. Today, families come in all shapes and sizes. Between work, family, and personal life, we face many responsibilities every day. Finding a healthy balance among them is essential.
The Office of Resource Services (ORS) has planned over 50 virtual activities and made available resources appropriate for every household. No matter your stage of life or career, this month-long series of events will provide helpful tools to assist you in balancing your work and home life.
Each week there will be a new theme that targets a specific phase of the career and family lifecycle:
Week 1 - Theme: Work-Life@NIH and Well-Being
Week 2 - Theme: New Employees and Daily Living
Week 3 - Theme: Mid-Career Employees and Those with Children of All Ages
Week 4 - Theme: Pre-Retirement Employees and Those with Adult Dependent and Elder Care Needs
Many of the services highlighted this month are available to the entire NIH workforce, including federal employees, trainees, fellows and contractors. The Work and Family Month 2021 Calendar of Events showcases the wealth of information provided to the NIH family. The activities and resources are available in many formats: live webinars, free fitness classes, Foil the Flu clinics, websites, PDFs and archived webinars and vignettes.
