The “Weight of the Nation” Documentary Series
The “Weight of the Nation” is an Emmy-nominated HBO Documentary Films series on obesity.  The four-part series—Consequences, Choices, Children in Crisis, and Challenges—highlighted several NIH research advances and addressed the factors contributing to the country’s obesity problem. The project also includes three films for youth and their families entitled The Weight of the Nation for Kids.

The Weight-control Information Network (WIN) provides the general public, health professionals, the media, and others with current information on weight control, obesity, physical activity, and nutrition. Many WIN resources can be downloaded at no cost.

If you are pregnant or thinking of having a baby, you may have questions about the appropriate amount of weight to gain.  The Institute of Medicine has created an interactive website to help you determine the right amount of weight to gain during your pregnancy so that both you and your baby will have a healthy start together.
