Physical Activity Basics

Engaging in regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health.  Physical activity can help you maintain a healthy weight, improve heart health, strengthen bones and muscles, and reduce stress.  Learn about the benefits of physical activity, and how much you should aim for each day.
How Much Physical Activity Do Adults Need?​
Adults should aim for 2 ½ hrs/week (about 30 minutes most days) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (i.e., brisk walking). If you do vigorous intensity activities such as running, aim for 75 minutes/week. A mix of  moderate and vigorous activities is fine.
Do muscle-strengthening activities at least 2 days/week. 
Aim to be active at least 10 minutes each time you do something.
